What makes a quote customers say yes to
- Itemise everything. One line per part of the job beats one big number — customers can see where the money goes.
- Say what is NOT included. A short line in the terms ("price excludes skip hire") prevents the most common disputes.
- Put a date on it. A validity period protects you if material prices rise, and quietly encourages the customer to decide.
- Make acceptance easy. The signature line on this template lets the customer accept the quote exactly as written.
- Price it right. Not sure your margin is healthy? Work it out with our free margin & markup calculator before you send the quote.
Quote questions, answered
What is the difference between a quote and an estimate?
A quote is a fixed price for a clearly described job — the customer should pay exactly that if they accept. An estimate is an educated approximation and the final price can move. This generator works for both; just word the description and notes honestly about what is fixed and what may change.
How long should a quote be valid?
Thirty days is the common choice, and it is the default here. Shorter periods (7–14 days) suit jobs where material prices move quickly; longer periods suit stable, low-cost work. The valid-until date is calculated automatically from the quote date.
Is a quote legally binding?
In many places an accepted quote can become part of a binding agreement, which is why this template includes an acceptance signature line. Rules vary by country and trade, so this is general information, not legal advice — check your local rules for anything significant.
How do I turn an accepted quote into an invoice?
Open the invoice generator on this site and copy the same items across, then change the document number to your invoice number. Because nothing is stored, there is no automatic conversion — but it takes about a minute.
How do I save the quote as a PDF?
Click Print / Save as PDF and choose "Save as PDF" in the print dialog. Only the quote document prints, including the signature line your customer can sign.
Where is my data stored?
Your quotes are not stored anywhere: the quote is built in your browser tab and never sent to a server, so print or save your PDF before closing the tab. Optional exception: if you tick "Save my business details", your own business name, address and contact line are kept in this browser on this device only, so they auto-fill next time — never uploaded, and clearable any time.
Do I need an account or pay anything?
No account, no payment, no watermark — and no limit on how many quotes you create.
